Emma, the Builder

Emma loves to stack up and knock down. The older she gets, the better at it she becomes, of course, but she is learning about the stacking AND the nesting ability of these blocks. (these were taken Nov. 12th, I believe)

I had been sitting on the couch, not paying attention to her, and she got the blocks and stacked this tower all by herself! I was SO VERY impressed, as was she! You can see her hands are clapping!

She was SO impressed with herself, I think, that she couldn't bring herself to just tear it down! She had to take it apart block by block! Quite funny to watch when she LOVES knocking stacked toys down!

She is getting SO big! This month she weighed in at 21.5 pounds and was 33.5 inches tall, I believe. Growing out of her size 18 month tops ( but with her skinny butt, she will be wearing the 18 month bottoms for awhile) and her size 5 shoes... hmmhhhh... sighhhhhhh........

Learning to Stack the Nesting Blocks

Here Emma was just messing with the nesting blocks, but soon started to try putting them inside one another. It didn't take her too long to figure it out. I watched her go through the process and clapped when she was done. Then, as with any other new skill... She had to do it over and over.

Here we are working on it the 2nd time around.

All while watching Baby Einstein, too!! Multi tasking at age 1!!

We're getting it...

TAH! DAH!! Done! She did it!

She was quite proud of herself!! But, of course, she had to go for it a third time...

She doesn't look too thrilled with her 3rd accomplishment. I think she was a bit perturbed that it "nested" when she wanted the inside block turned a different way. What a smarty she is getting to be!

Toys... Emma's? Or Daddys?

We bought a bag full of Mega Blocks at the thrift store last week and after being sterilized, Martin decided to build. He can't wait for Emma to be big enough to play with him and the blocks! We'll keep looking for more to add to the collection!
His Mega Blocks version of the Eiffel Tower! He was so sad when I made him take it apart and
put them away! But, we had a party to prep for and the tower could not stay on the dining room table any longer! Here is Emma playing with her new toy. She likes the caterpillar, as it makes noises and has wheels and when pushed down, it inches along like it is crawling. Because it moves, it makes her have to move around more to keep up with it.
